Zero Balancing:
Integrating Body Structure and Body Energy Through the Use of Touch

Zero Balancing (ZB) is a hands-on bodywork system that allows the practitioner to engage both the physical structure and energetic body of a person simultaneously. The purpose of this work is to harmonize the relationship between energy movement and body structure through the use of touch.
Gentle joint traction and applied pressure to areas of need create still points around which the body can organize and balance.

The Importance of Balance Between the Structural and Energetic Bodies
Disturbances in the relationship between structure and energy can happen as a result of accidents, repeated or chronic strain, emotional events in a person’s life or from poor postural habits. Alignment of energy and structure provides relief from musculo-skeletal pain and stiffness and improved overall body functioning. ZB provides an experience of quiet calm within the bodymind. The result is the ability to adapt with greater ease to current changes as well as helping to resolve past trauma. ZB is health enhancing and assists people to realize their full potential. When energy and structure are balanced we feel better, lighter, grounded, more our true selves. Life just goes better.

“I felt very light (after my session with Kathy), like I was gliding through life”. E.B. Soldiers Grove, WI

The Art of Conscious Touch

Zero Balancing touch is unique in its form. It is characterized by a clarity that respects the boundaries of both client and practitioner. It is pleasant to receive and promotes relaxation and a sense of well-being. The practitioner works with a quiet mind and focused attention. Deep levels of touch that engage energy and structure promote expanded states of awareness where body and mind exist in unity.

"Kathy is a marvelously intuitive and skillful body worker... you can tell that she is working with you on many levels simultaneously... she is obviously a holistic practitioner in the truest sense of the word. I recommend her very highly!"-- D.B., Viroqua, WI

Touching the Energy of Bone

The focus of the touch in Zero Balancing is on energy held in the bones and joints that make up the skeletal system. Characteristics of the skeletal system are its’ depth and strength. It is the foundation of our physical structure and contains the strongest current of energy in the body. By engaging the energy and structure of the skeletal system one is able to be in touch with the strongest and most stable aspects of our being and that which is closest to our true nature.

Integrating Modalities

With the principles of Zero Balancing as the core of her work, elements of massage therapy, craniosacral therapy and acupressure are woven into each session. Massage Therapy provides calming nurturance while addressing muscle tension and pain. Long flowing strokes, gentle rocking of the spinal column, and pressure applied to areas of increased tension allow the body/mind to soften and relax. In Craniosacral Therapy the practitioner gently holds the bones of the cranium and lower spine. The effects are a profound calm that nurtures and restores at the deepest level of the nervous system.

“I have been doing regular bodywork with Kathy over a long period of time – over ten years. Her gentleness, her focus, her calm are transmitted through her hands and have contributed greatly to my sense of well-being over the years – not just during a treatment, but over time. I highly recommend her as the best kind of massage therapist – she listens to what you need, both through what you tell her and what your body tells her – and then she provides that care innovatively and lovingly.” L. W. New York City/Viroqua
